Ask any Bakuvian to name their favourite restaurants in town and there's a good chance you'll hear the name Scalini mentioned in the top three and it's easy to see why. Always busy, with a relaxed, convivial atmosphere and friendly staff, Scalini does exactly what you want from a homely Italian restaurant. With décor mixing classic film posters with chianti flasks and lit in the main by candles, it's no surprise then that this is where Pierce Brosnan dined when filming The World is Not Enough; nor that what's good enough for Bond should be good enough also for Jose Carreras. Chef/manager Elio Bevilacqua is originally from Calabria and learned his trade by the sea, so seafood is a particular focus, but in truth, the menu dots pleasingly around Italy and features regional specialities from pretty much everywhere, including great pizza.
